Smarter pool heating with less wasted energy.

PHEEP provides qualifying commercial and institutional pools with intelligent monitoring, predictive heating control, operating reports, and alerts designed to improve efficiency without sacrificing required pool temperatures.

10-minuteoperating data intervals
24/7remote system visibility
No upfront costfor qualifying direct-install sites

What the Pool Control System can do

  • Stop Heating the Pool at Closing Time
  • Calculate the Solar Gain to Reduce Heater Run Time
  • Calculate when the Heater must fire to Heat the Pool by Opening Time
  • Provide the Pool Platform for the Pool Service Company to use and better manage the Pool System
  • The NOVARA Pool asset can be installed by the Pool Service Company
  • CEGY will provide Training to install the NOVARA Pool asset
  • CEGY will provide assistance to use the Pool Platform
  • All necessary Reports and Alarms will be provided by text and/or email

Energy management built specifically for heated pools

PHEEP combines field-installed controls with ongoing data collection so pool operators can see what is happening and reduce avoidable heater operation.

01

Monitor

Track pool temperature, outdoor air temperature, heater outlet temperature, and runtime to understand actual operating conditions.

02

Optimize

Predictive start and tight temperature control help limit unnecessary preheating while maintaining the selected pool temperature.

03

Report & Alert

Operating reports and alerts help facility teams identify abnormal conditions and document pool-heating performance.

Potential Benefits

Results vary by pool size, schedule, weather, equipment, controls, and existing operating practices.

Lower heating energy use

Reduce heater runtime caused by early starts, excessive temperature drift, and heating beyond scheduled operating hours.

Better operational visibility

Continuous data gives managers a clearer view of pool temperature and heater behavior than occasional manual readings alone.

Faster problem identification

Ongoing monitoring helps service companies and onsite providers investigate heater short cycling, heaters offline, and abnormal temperature or runtime conditions.

Useful documentation

Reports provide an operating record that can support facility management, maintenance review, and energy-efficiency analysis.

For pool operators and service providers

A clearer view between service visits

The connected platform gives pool service companies and onsite providers visibility into pool temperatures, heater operation, and operating trends.

  • Investigate frequent heater starts and short cycling
  • Identify heaters offline or missing operating data
  • Review temperature and runtime history
  • Use reports to support maintenance decisions

How PHEEP works

A simple four-step process from initial review through ongoing monitoring.

1
Site review

We collect basic pool, heater, schedule, and facility information.

2
Qualification

CEGY reviews the site against current PHEEP program requirements.

3
Direct installation

The Pool Control System is installed and connected to the heating equipment.

4
Monitor & optimize

Data, reports, alerts, and control strategies support ongoing energy management.

Who may qualify?

PHEEP is intended for qualifying commercial and institutional pools with gas-fired heaters and an eligible SoCalGas account. Final eligibility depends on the site review and current program requirements.

  • Hotels and hospitality properties
  • Multifamily communities
  • Country clubs, HOAs, and community associations
  • Private schools and educational facilities
  • Swim schools and nonprofit facilities
  • Other qualifying commercial pools

What we need to get started

  • Pool address
  • Approximate pool dimensions or surface area
  • Pool operating hours and target temperature
  • Gas-fired heater manufacturer, model, and BTU/h input
  • A recent gas bill, if readily available

A virtual review can often begin with photos and basic equipment information.

Quick savings estimator

Use this simple planning estimate based on approximately $310/month for an 800 sq. ft. pool. It is for preliminary discussion only and is not a guaranteed savings calculation.

For a more accurate estimate, CEGY can review the pool size, operating schedule, heater information, and recent gas usage.

Estimate potential savings

Enter the approximate pool surface area.

Estimated potential savings: $310/month • $3,720/year
Planning estimate only. Actual energy and cost savings will vary by site.

Common questions

What does the program pay for?

Qualifying direct-install sites receive equipment and installation without an upfront charge. CEGY confirms the funded monitoring period and ongoing subscription options before participation.

Can we start with a virtual review?

Yes. Send the pool address, approximate dimensions, operating hours, target temperature, and photos of the heater and equipment area. A recent gas bill helps refine the review.

Are the savings guaranteed?

No. The calculator gives a preliminary planning estimate. Actual results depend on the pool, heating equipment, operating practices, weather, and utility rates.

Can our pool service company participate?

Service companies can refer sites and coordinate with CEGY. The monitoring platform helps service teams review heater operation and investigate alerts.

Request a PHEEP site review

Send us the property name and pool address. We can then identify the information needed to determine the next step.
